When you hand-pick your computer components yourself, you know exactly what it is you are getting and you can choose the highest quality if you desire. The Downside of Building Your Own Computer
If you know what you're doing, you can build a powerful machine that will serve you well. Do be aware though, that by building it yourself, you're foregoing a warranty and the support you can expect when you purchase one pre-built. While it is true that many of the computer components you buy will come with warranties, the support will be nothing like it is when you can hand off your entire computer to someone behind the counter at your local store and expect them to fix it.
Still, building your own computer can bring you a tremendous amount of satisfaction and if you are comfortable with going through the process and are able to troubleshoot should something go wrong, it can be a great experience.
